During the class of English I, the learning objectives are we utilize the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts (ELA) to reach the grade-level expectations in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing to prepare for college or any career. This is very important because with this help, we can write out resumes, essays, letters, and more.
The project that I am submitting as an artifact for English I had the following learning objectives: to write an essay and to make a slideshow about a genocide we chose.these link back to the course learning objectives by to reach grade-level expectations in the areas of reading and writing. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with first choosing the genocide that I want. There was a genocide that I really wanted to write about since our teacher mentioned and it's called by "The Forgotten Hitler", historically named "The Genocide of the Congo State". After I chose what I wanted to write about, we took notes in a packet that organizes our note taking. Once I finished that, I started to write out my essay. It took me approximately 2-3 days to finish it. Once I was done typing, I put some pictures on it. After completing my essay, I had to get started with my slideshow which was done in Google Slides. I took out information from my essay and turn them into bullet points, and put some pictures and decorations. Throughout this process listed above I have realized I have learned or grown in the following ways: to research carefully and well, and learning about unknown topics that don't get taught in most schools.These link back to the course goals and project goals with writing a essay about a genocide that is interesting for me and my audience. This tells me the following about myself and how I learn to write a persuasive essay.
The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this Artifact are
I have demonstrated (this first slow SLO) in the artifact by demonstrating self directed learner who communicates effectively by presenting my slideshow to my audience and speaking out loud in each slide.The Second SLO I demonstrated was applying technological skills for the 21st century by making the slideshow in Google Slides that requires the internet. I could have improved the following SLO better by Mastering skills needed in career and college.
Overall the the most important things I have learned in this class this year are to write an essay. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by writing important things in a formal way
